Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe dentinal tubule surface obliteration by using fluoride and laser with 100 specimens made out of 25 extracted premolars. After confirmation of adequate generating power for this investigation with 40 specimens among them, the rest 60 specimens were treated for the studies such as 2% sodium fluoride iontophoresis, 0.75w(energy density : 306J/cm2) laser irradiation and 0.75w laser irradiation after 2% sodium fluoride iontophoresis. Through scanning electron microscope(JSM-840A, JEOL,Japan) dentinal tubule surface obliteration was estimated by the sight criterion.
The following results were obtained in this study
1. Among the above laser irradiations, in case of irradiating at 0.75w for one minute, dentinal tubule surface obliteration was most effective.
2. In the case of iontophoresis with 2% sodium fluoride solution, the complete open of dentinal tubule surface was accounted for 31.07%, the partial obliteration for 65.68% and the complete obliteration for 3.25%.
3. Through laser energy density of 306 J/Cm2, the complete open of dentinal tubule surface was accounted for 2.48%, partial obliteration for 59.94%, and the complete obliteration for 37.58%.
4. After 2% sodium fluoride iontophoresis, the specimens were irradiated by laser at 0.75w for one minute. In this case, the complete open of dentinal tubule surface was accounted for 0.56%, the partial obliteration for 54.50%, and the complete oblieration for 44.94%.
5. Dentinal tubule surface obliteration rate was most highly observed in the case of the 0.75w laser irradiation after 2% sodium fluoride iontophoresis. ( P<0.05)
